Sileby
Methodist Church is a growing, worshipping community of all ages. The
premises on King Street which were built in 1866 and extended later
with the addition of the Swan Street Hall to serve the needs of the
children and youth and also the growing community of the village at
large. These which are now sadly outdated, and in great need of redevelopment.
The building
at the moment holds a variety of groups, some within the church community
and some outside it. With the planned redevelopment these thing will
be able to expand and we will integrate more with the village. The plans
have in them a new kitchen, coffee lounge, new toilets and better access
for the disabled and elderly.
The main
church is to be turned round which will facilitate a better use of the
area we have and with new, more comfortable chairs. The church may also
be used as a multi purpose venue for all the community; e.g. Lunch clubs,
pre-school midweek meetings etc., plus being able to let out the rooms
will bring in monies to help us keep the building up to date.
