Enjoyable approAch to God
Over one hundred people took part enthusiastically in approAch 2007, a conference focusing on worship held at Loughborough Baptist Church on
Saturday 27th October. Sponsored by the Northampton Methodist District, the Methodist Church Music Society, The Good News Centre and AD 2000 Worship Band, the event drew people from across the Midlands.
Rev Steve Wild, Director of Evangelism at Cliff College opened the event and spoke of music being in the genes of Methodists. He challenged people in the evening celebration to take worship and witness seriously.
Bryn Haworth, professional singer/songwriter, in the workshops, spoke of how he became a Christian after visiting a red and white striped tent he had painted from a dream, to find not the circus he expected but a mission event. He also encouraged musicians in worship bands not just to practice hard for their services, but to play for their own worship and enjoyment.
Joanna Mitchell of the Christian Dance Fellowship of Britain taught people how to dance in worship, following the example of Old Testament King David, and Liz Babbs, Author and Spiritual Mentor, led workshops on the art of mediation, which she has used as a therapeutic tool enabling people to approach God. Penny Beschizza enabled people to better understand the lyrics of hymns through the medium of British Sign Language.
Delegates were most complimentary about the high quality of the speakers and the event organisation. The organising group are considering plans for a future event.
