Rev Peter Privett

Godly Play International Regional Training Consultant for the UK, Europe

Godly Play Workshop leader

Peter trained as a teacher in the halcyon days of the late 1960's working in schools in Birmingham and the 'Black Country' where creativity and child centered education ruled the day.
Peter was ordained in 1978 as an Anglican priest, working in parishes in Birmingham, and then as a Diocesan Education Adviser in Hereford.

Now living in Rugby Peter works as a freelance Godly Play Trainer and writer, as well as being an Associate Minister in the Rugby Team ministry.

The latest book is co edited with Anne Richards, and explores some key theological themes from a child's view (Anne Richards and Peter Privett editors. Through The Eyes of a Child: CHP Press) Peter also enjoys to work on community art projects as a textile
artist, especially enthusing those who have little or no experience. What  time is left  is spent lost in gardening, my wife often wondering why it takes so long to sort out a compost heap!

Godly Play Workshop

Godly Play is a creative and imaginative approach to Christian nurture. This workshop will give participants an opportunity to experience some of the Godly Play process and then give time for reflection and discussion.

At the heart of Godly Play is a respect for words and silence, objects and symbols, openness and discovery. It encourages people to make meaning form themselves and can be used in a variety of settings with both adults and children. Over the last ten years in the UK, Godly Play has been used in churches, schools, hospitals, prisons, and elderly care homes.
