Rob Newton
Having been brought up a Methodist as a child I left to embark on a
chequered life of Free Churches, Pentecostal Churches and, at times,
no Church at all. I returned to the Methodist Church at Trinity in Loughborough
due to my wife, Liz.
Call to Preach
From the time I accepted Jesus as my Saviour I have been yearning to
learn more and have felt a compulsion to serve and to share. When I
was asked to help with Junior Church I accepted and soon was leading
and teaching young people. I completed the Disciple course grateful
for the discipline it gave in it's study. Leading the Praise and Worship
Band brought music to the forefront of my faith and the Methodist Worship
Leaders course seemed a natural step forward. All this has been a grounding
experience, a foundation from which to enter the Local Preacher's training.
I recieved a note to preach following the Circuit Preacher's meeting
on 17th May 2001.
The final submission went to Local Preacher's office in March 2005
Personal Statement
The Local Preacher title holds little significance unless it's used
to further God's Kingdom and to deepen my relationship with Him. I believe
I have been given the good news of the gospel and a vehicle by which
to spread the message to those who don't yet know Christ as well as
those who want to know him more. We do not live in a Godless world but
a world that has again lost touch with God. I want to be part of a Church
of Christ that sees a future, that intends to grow and will have victory
over apathy and evil in this land.
